OK - full disclosure this pic is not me right now! This was from a headshot sesh in full pandemic mode 2020 and Charlie my awesome photographer snapped me thinking... this was unposed and genuinely authentic. I would love to remember what I was thinking.
But anyway... I digress
I wish I was dressed and could get on camera to say this, but I am not...
Why?
Because I was up at 6 seeing to my kids, taking them to school & chorus, working as I stopped the car on the school run to reply to emails and make voice notes on things to do...
Then back home grabbing a coffee then straight into the studio working, replying to emails, then into a session (in my pjs), then sending the files, running down to see to my fur baby, rushing back up to my studio to send in work to my agents, grabbing another colossal chocolate cookie to fuel me (don't come @ me) and then prepping another session.
Now it is 2:30 (ish) and I am still in my bright pink Comet Casino tee (thanks Scott Parkin) and yoga pants that I threw on for the school run, no bra, no make up and I am not sure I brushed my hair.
Today and yesterday (and everyday is) = NON-STOP.
THIS... is my life - the life of a voice actor. Not massively glamourous but I would not have this any other way. I love it... like love love love it.
I might not make fancy Reels or get dolled up everyday, but I get the job DONE. Oh yeah, did I say I am a promo / trailer voice for Disney? - high five to me!!
Disney or any of my other clients and agents don't care that my house has dust bunnies, so much so that I can almost hear Ennio Morricone "The Good The Bad & The Ugly" playing in the background, with the floor dust bunnies blowing around like a sandy old cowboy road.
My washing machine is having a party from lack of use, blowing raspberries at the sad unused bottles of Tide, but I can't see the floor from all the laundry and the dirty dishes are having standoff in the kitchen sink - which will topple first??? It's anyone's guess.
Not to mention the odd half drunk cup of coffee languishing in various places in my office, studio and kitchen. Some have also been reheated in the microwave... yeah. Classy that's me.
So - do I care?
Nope... I have nothing to prove. Only that I am a hardworking, octopus armed, multi tasking mum of 3 kids and one fur bubba, with lots of agents and clients and work to do. That all takes priority...
My kids are happy and will be fed with something home cooked (or not), my dog is snoring having munched on eggs and raw steak, my clients are happy and have the recordings and I am on time and on target with work.
I have commitments in my life and none involve cleaning dust bunnies or washing. At least not today... maybe tomorrow. Orrrrr maybe not :)
Do what you can.
We are women... not SUPER women... or maybe we are? I don't know. I am NOT superwoman and I am A-OK with that.

Now - where *did* I put that coffee...?
